Personal History Born on a farm on a remote farming planet. 20 people lived on the planet, in a small community. The Cardiassians never bothered them...until they arrived. 5 Cardiassians soldiers came out of a landing craft, killed all the men...molested all the women, then killed them as well. The children were to be taken as slaves.
Lucas saw the craft land, and ran home. By the time he got there, the Cardis had already killed the men and women. He found the bodies of his family. He hid, watching the enemy. The Cardis started searching the community.....they were so confident they each searched alone. Lucas picked a target...and stalked him. When they were out of sight, he attacked the Cardi, slicing his throat from ear to ear. He was 15 years old. He sliced off the thumb of the Cardi. Then he stalked another one.....killed him, slit his throat and castrated him, and removed his thumb. He killed 2 more. He captured the last one and tortured him for information. He learned that there were 2 more on their mother ship orbiting the planet. Once he got the intel, he gut the last Cardi, and sliced off his thumb.
He set the landing craft to automatic, and the craft took off and returned to it's mother ship. The crew on the ship kept trying to contact the landing craft, but couldn't raise anyone. Once the ship docked, he hid and waited for his last 2 prey.
The first one showed up, holding his weapon. He died. Lucas took his weapon. The last Cardi locked off the bridge, trying to contact his unit for help, but Lucas overrode the lockout and entered the bridge. The Cardiassian begged for his life. Lucas dragged him to an airlock, cut off his thumb, then tossed him in the airlock and opened the outer door and watched the enemy float away towards the planet, and to be burned up in reentry.
Lucas returned to the bridge, learned how to pilot the ship and plotted a course, towards Bajor, and Terok Nor.
He made it to the station, avoiding patrols. The station locked on it's tractor beams and towed the ship into a pylon. When security arrived, they found Lucas, hands on his head and on his knees.
They took him and questioned him for hours.
A visiting ship commander heard about him and befriended him. Lucas served, unofficially, working in engineering, helping out in sickbay, and worked with the security teams. When he reached 18, the commander returned him to Bajor, and enrolled him in the Academy.
Service Record Entered the Academy. First 2 years were a struggle - he wasn't used to following orders or working with others. 3rd and 4th years were better - his grade improved.
Graduated and was assigned to a freighter as ensign, assigned to engineering.
The freighter was attacked, disabled and boarded by Klingons. Ensign Jacobs helped security in fighting the Klingons. The Klingons killed most of the freighters crew, but Jacobs and 3 others managed to escape in a shuttle. They returned to Terok Nor. The 4 of them were awarded medals for their deeds.
Promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to a cruiser as part of the security/tactical department. In the 4 years he was posted there, showed himself to be an excellent office, and was promoted to 3rd officer of the ship, and chief of security/tactical.
The cruiser was damaged in combat, and when they limped back home, Lt Jacobs was reassigned to ISS Vanguard as chief of security/tactical and 2nd Officer.
